The Benhebak Ya Masr Foundation donated thousands of masks to the Church for Christmas celebrations. Bishop Ermia, head of the Coptic Orthodox Cultural Centre at St Mark’s Cathedral in Abbassia, received Engineer Zeinab Bashier, President of the foundation, following the donation. In a statement, the foundation said the initiative reflected its ongoing cooperation with the cathedral, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s call for partnership and under the patronage of Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St Mark. It highlighted the shared commitment to bringing Egyptians of different faiths together in charitable and development work. Bishop Ermia praised the foundation’s charitable, social and development initiatives, particularly its Christmas mask distribution. He accompanied Bashier on a tour of the cathedral and presented her with commemorative gifts. They agreed to organise further initiatives and visits within the cathedral. The visit included the Atohebony exhibition and bridal-preparation atelier, the public library, and museums commemorating church martyrs, Coptic martyrs and victims of the ISIS massacre in Libya.
